Miltech Hellas responds to MoD call for battle management system development

Miltech Hellas SA has officially responded to the recent Call for Expression of Interest (02/25) issued by the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, concerning the development of a Battle Management System (BMS) for naval applications.

The proposed system is intended for initial deployment on gunboat-type vessels (Kanonioforos class) and will be capable of generating and managing a comprehensive tactical picture—both locally and within a broader networked battlespace. The BMS is expected to integrate seamlessly with ship data distribution systems, sensors, weapons platforms, and communication networks.

Miltech views this initiative as a positive step toward strengthening the domestic defense industry and remains committed to contributing cutting-edge technological solutions to national defense priorities.

MILTECH AND IAI SIGN AGRREMENT FOR COLLABORATION ON GREECE’S NEW AIR DEFENSE “DOME”

MILTECH Hellas SA and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) signed a cooperation agreement today regarding the upgrade of Greece’s air defense systems. The selection of MILTECH confirms the highly positive evaluation of its work within the international defense industry.

MILTECH’s contribution to the project will focus on the critical sectors of electronics, console, wiring and other components, as well as system integration. The shared goal of both parties is to supply the Hellenic Armed Forces with IAI’s new BARAX MX system. This is an advanced multi-layered air defense system designed to counter any aerial threat, including aircraft, UAVs, and missiles. It features three types of missiles with ranges of up to 35, 70, and 150 km, offering flexibility and guaranteed effectiveness.

This missile type comes in three versions, expected to fully meet the operational requirements of Greece’s air defense in terms of short, medium, and long ranges. Once fully developed, the BARAX MX will be capable of countering all forms of aerial threats, including ballistic missiles, aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The agreement between the two companies represents an extremely positive development, as a significant portion of this critical defense program for Greece’s Armed Forces will be executed by Greek defense industries. This is anticipated to elevate Greece’s role—and that of Greek defense companies like MILTECH—in the forthcoming European air defense “dome.”

MILTECH’s MLT-SUR-200RTM electro-optical systems on the Navy’s Island-class patrol boats

The Hellenic Navy recently received four Island-class patrol boats from the USA. During maintenance and upgrade works carried out in Greece, these boats were equipped with advanced MLT-SUR-RTM electro-optical systems by MILTECH.

The MLT-SUR-RTM is a versatile thermal surveillance system with a cooled, high-definition thermal sensor for optimal observation and effective detection. It also features a laser rangefinder with a range of up to 30 km, making the MLT-SUR-RTM ideal for maritime border security and sea surveillance.

The Island class of the U.S. Coast Guard was designed in the early 1980s for offshore surveillance, law enforcement, drug interdiction, and secondary search and rescue missions. The American-built patrol boat can operate for five days without refuelling.

The Island-class boats are expected to replace the Nasty-class coastal patrol boats, which are wooden vessels that have served in the Navy for several decades.

MILTECH systems to oversee maritime traffic in the northern Aegean

MILTECH Hellas SA was awarded a contract for the supply of maritime surveillance systems to the Hellenic Coast Guard following an international open tender.

As part of the project, three long-range ground surveillance stations will be provided to the Hellenic Coast Guard. Two of these stations will be equipped with the MLT-TD800 electro-optical system.

MILTECH Hellas key role in dual partnership agreements for development projects with MBDA

On the 6th of February in Athens, Greece MILTECH Hellas, is proud to announce its collaboration with MBDA, a global leader in missile systems, along with ALTUS, in a landmark initiative aimed at advancing Greece’s defense capabilities.

The signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between MBDA and Greek companies MILTECH and ALTUS marks a significant milestone in enhancing Greece’s defense industry. This partnership is part of MBDA’s “R&D Booster” initiative, an integral component of the strategic partnership agreement between France and Greece signed in 2021.

Under the first MoU with MILTECH, MBDA will work closely on the development of an AKERON MP launch kit. This innovative system will provide a versatile option for light automatic turrets equipped with low-caliber guns, reinforcing Greece’s military readiness on a global scale.

Simultaneously, through the collaboration with ALTUS, MBDA aims to revolutionize tactical drone capabilities by integrating AKERON MP missiles. The initial focus will be on integrating these advanced missiles onto ALTUS’s groundbreaking ATLAS 8 HEAVY LIFTER UAV, propelling Greece to the forefront of unmanned aerial vehicle technology.

MBDA France and MILTECH Hellas sign contract for Asterand Exocet

On October 17, 2023, MBDA France and MILTECH HELLAS SA signed a contract for the manufacturing of cables for the ASTER and EXOCET launching units. This contract is the next step in the cooperation between the two companies after the signature of the R&D contract (MBDA—MILTECH— University of Patras) in 2022.

This contract is beneficial for both MBDA France, which actively increases its footprint in Greece, in the frame of both Hellenic Industrial Participation plans and the bilateral defense agreement signed by France and Greece in September 2021, and MILTECH,

which dynamically enters MBDA France’s supply chain, with prospects for expanding/deepening the areas of cooperation in the coming months.
